The Mind

The mind is a great tool, when it is used properly. Most often than not though, we allow our minds to control us. We live our lives through the mind believing what it thinks, is who we are. Until the day we become conscious and realize that our life situation, or The Matrix if you'd like to call it that, is not our life. Because we are not the mind, we are a soul.
The only way to truly break free of the mind, is to live in the present moment, and ignore the negative thoughts and feelings to consume us. Let the ego die, and eventually your life is going to change because you no longer just live in the Matrix, but the real world as well.
Once you are living in between these two worlds, than you are experiencing true happiness, and good things, amazing experiences are just drawn to you. Your energy becomes a magnet, and you attract good things to you.
But, how do I quiet my mind?
Once you realize you are the soul, the I am, you become consciously aware. Once you are aware you can observe the thoughts that pop into your mind. Once you can observe your thoughts, you will notice there is a space between each thought. The present moment if you will. Focus on that empty space and nothing else. The negative thoughts are there, you are aware of them and you accept them, but you no longer are allowing them to control you, to consume you. You are no longer living through the mind.
You have to find that space, and you have to accept that you are thinking this or feeling this, but you don't have to be this, you are a soul, and all your soul says is I am. Just be, and live in the present moment, and you will find balance, inner peace, and true happiness.
Think about it like this, if you are arguing with someone, negative thoughts about the situation or that person pop into your head. An unconscious person allows those thought patterns to take control. These thought patterns get them angrier and angrier feeding the situation, and causing drama, and that's what the ego wants.
During that same argument a conscious person is going to have these thoughts too, but the difference is though they accept the thought, they don't allow it to have effect on them. They let the thought go remaining calm in the situation.
Another example of this is if a "friend" leaves your life for whatever reason. An unconscious person will think non-stop about that person and what they did. The more they think the angrier and more vengeful they become. They constantly complain to others about what the other has done, they "attack" the person, or "chase" the person, and their actions continue this pattern stirring up unnecessary drama. While a conscious person accepts what is, walks away and remains happy.
When you no longer allow your mind and your feelings to control you, you become.
You are being your true self, the I am.
To do this, you have to remember that you are not the mind, you are a soul. You need to live in the present, and remember that for a soul, time doesn't exist. Time only exists in the mind. You need to be able to let go of the past.
Don't allow memories and past feelings to affect you. Your past isn't what defines you, if you dwell on the past, you are missing out on so much life. Because life isn't in the past, life is happening right now.
You also need to remember that the future doesn't exist. Stop yourself from thinking about the future. Worrying or thinking things will be "better when..". Stop waiting! Tomorrow never comes, because it's always now. Stop waiting for things to come your way, make them happen today!
Take action, because the only thing that is stopping from these things happening is you!
